The Star Wars Trilogy, Episodes IV, V, & VI - The Novelization

It's been a long time since I picked up an actual book to read. It’s just that the best time to read is at night time when my baby is asleep, and I need to lie down beside her so my option is to read an ebook with my iPad because there’s no need for me to turn the lights on. Now that I have a household help and that my Jordana is now a little girl who can spend hours just playing, I sometimes have the time to read. I would read a few pages while glancing at her when she's playing and making a big mess that I would just clean up later. Just recently, I was able to finish a book that I have started reading December of 2012 then stopped and started reading again just over a month ago, still, I’m happy I got to read it little by little

It’s the Star Wars Trilogy book which I got as a Christmas present from my husband over two years ago. The book looks good, a real collectible for a Star Wars fan like I am. What I have is the hardcover but this also came out in paperback.

The front cover. Of course, it's Darth Vader, who else should be there?

Each episode was written by a different author, A New Hope by George Lucas, The Empire Strikes Back by Donald F. Glut, and Return of the Jedi by James Kahn.

I was so excited to read the novelization and it did not disappoint. I wasn’t really looking for differences between the book and the movie and if there were some, it’s not a big thing, possibly also because it was a long time since I last watched the movies so I can’t really tell. But for die hard fans like those who had almost every line and scene memorized, I’m sure they might have noticed some things, but as for me, it seems that it follows the film right on. The best part of this novelization is that I was able to hear the thoughts of the characters which is what I like about reading any book. There were also some background stories that were narrated here more clearly to understand the characters better. One thing that I don’t like about reading a book that I have already seen in the movie is that I can only picture the actors in my mind, when I read about Luke Skywalker, it’s Mark Hamill that I can picture, Han Solo is Harrison Ford, and so on. I just like picturing a whole new person whenever I read about a character in a book, well, it’s just me.

Overall, it’s a fun and enjoyable read. It’s a must have and read for any Star Wars fan.

    1. Same here, sad no? I set a goal for myself to finish at least 20 books this year and I'm still far from that goal, haha.

  9. Cool! It has pictures too! I love to read but because of the digital age, I prefer reading on my smartphone or laptop. Actual books can be more expensive. Also, I found a better way to read . . . audio books. You can actually finish a whole book in a few hours by listening VS reading. I think this is a best option for ADHD-ish people like me. =)

    1. I love audio books, too, though it's quite different when you're the one reading. I like multitasking so when I'm doing DIY and craft projects, I always listen to audio books or watch something on my laptop.
